Getting Rid of Dandruff

Dandruff isn’t a serious health problem, but it can be embarrassing. People continuously shed outer layer of dead skin. When those skin cells flake off the scalp too fast, you get dandruff. Any possible cause for dandruff like stress, overactive oil gland etc.

Dandruff is a form of skin infection. Dandruff symptoms include itching, scaling and hair fall. Dandruff is the flaking of the scalp. These flakes are made up off dead cells. It can also cause lumps on scalp. Fungus is the most common cause of dandruff. Proper hair care can remove dandruff and make you hair healthy, long, beautiful and dandruff free.

Causes of dandruff are:

Usage of hair oil makes the scalp sticky and unclean. This makes the scalp flaky and increases dandruff.

Using a bad quality shampoo can cause dandruff. Harsh chemicals can damage your scalp and hair. So, always use a suitable shampoo.

Oiliness can cause dandruff. Over activity of sebaceous gland causes oiliness. Teenagers tend to suffer from acne and scaling. It’s a common cause of dandruff.

Fungal infection of scalp can cause dandruff. Fungus Malassezia furfur causes dandruff.

Allergies, stress, constipation, excessive sweating, yeast infections, bad health may also cause dandruff.

Home made natural Remedies for Dandruff :

1. Make dandruff rinse using fresh turmeric. Pour a cup of boil water over two tsps of chopped root. Steep, strain and let it cool. Apply after shampooing. Turmeric has strong antifungal and antibacterial property.

2. Tea tree oil also has a strong antifungal property. Dilute saven drops of tree oil in on tbsp of olive oil and leave it overnight in your scalp. Rinse with Luke warm water.

3. Another herbal anti-dandruff rinse is made by adding handful of crushed bay leaves to a liter of very hot water. Coverup and let stay for 20 minutes. Strain, cool and apply.

4. Brush your hair regularly to improve blood circulation. It removes flakiness and makes hair grow.

5. Keep you hair and scalp clean to prevent dandruff. Shampoo your hair at least twice a week.

6. Take hot oil treatment and steam. For this massage your hair with hot oil and then cover it with hot damp towel for few minutes.

7. Reduce your intake of junk food, sweets and aerated drinks. Don’t eat processed food. Avoid taking too much of tea and coffee.

8. Eat a balanced food which is rich in vitamins and mineral. Increase the intake of fruits and vegetables.
 
9. Citrus fruits, bananas and dry fruits should be avoided.

10. Mix 1 egg with 1 cup of yogurt and apply the mixture on the scalp. Leave it for 1/2 an hour and then wash your hair.

11. Use Aloe Vera gel to cure dandruff. Apply on scalp and wash off after 30 minutes. Do this regularly.

12. Make a paste of fenugreek seeds which have been soaked overnight. Apply on scalp and shampoo off after 1/2 an hour. The juice of snake gourd should be applied on scalp to cure dandruff.
 
13. Mix three tablespoons of green gram with a cup of curd and use it to wash your hair. Do this twice a week for best results.

14. Massage your scalp with a mixture of 1 tsp lemon juice with 2 tsp vinegar. Shampoo your hair after 20 minutes.

15. Boil a handful of neem leaves in water and wash hair using it. Wash your hair using lemon juice.

16. Rub a handful of baking soda on wet hair. Wash it after sometime. It reduces itching.

17. Massage your hair with coconut plus juice of 2 lemons. Steam your hair and wash off after 2 hours. Do this twice a week.

18. Mix 2 aspirins in your anti-dandruff shampoo and use it to wash your hair.
